Flag analysis
The Inflexion Foundation has undertaken several direct actions with demonstrable positive impacts on humans, nature, and society, as reported by third parties.
In 2023, the Inflexion Foundation committed a grant of 50,000 per annum for the next three years to Kazerne Reigersbos, a community center in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost, Netherlands [1]Pro. Maru Asmellash, Founder of Kazerne, confirmed that they "will benefit greatly from their funding and support" [1]Pro. This financial commitment supports a center that provides enhanced facilities for creatives and starting entrepreneurs in an area characterized by a social-economic position below the Amsterdam average [1]Pro. As a first step in this partnership, the Inflexion team organized an event in November 2023, where they engaged with various local fledgling entrepreneurs to discuss business challenges and explore how the Inflexion team could contribute positively to their businesses' development by sharing their experience, knowledge, and network [1]Pro. Furthermore, members of Inflexion's Amsterdam office are actively serving as a strategic sounding board to the team at Kazerne, assisting with their growth plans [1]Pro.
The Foundation also provided support to the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) in the UK. Professor Joe Smith, Director of the RGS, reported that "Support from the Inflexion Foundation has seen the Geography for All initiative evolve in 2023 from a small research project into a whole community networking function" [2]Pro. This initiative works to improve access to geography as a subject and encourage diversity within the RGS discipline [2]Pro. Additionally, Inflexion Foundation's support enabled "Earth Stories deliver a programme of opportunities for specialists, industry leaders and decision makers to creatively engage with sustainability issues" in 2023 [2]Pro. This program develops new approaches to communicating about sustainability to improve public understanding of this important subject [2]Pro. Professor Smith noted that "Positive feedback received through engagement with participants and wider networks has demonstrated proof of concept in 2023" for these initiatives [2]Pro.
In 2023, the Inflexion Foundation committed another grant of 50,000 per annum for three years to the London Wildlife Trust [3]Pro. Leah McNally, Director of Learning, Youth & Communities at the Trust, stated that this "Funding from Inflexion will enable 80% of children who attend a school learning session to learn something new about nature and wildlife" [3]Pro. She also highlighted that "89% of teachers surveyed in the last six months reported feeling more confident in using green space and nature in future lessons after attending a session at one of our nature reserves" [3]Pro. The majority of this funding is directed towards the Trust's flagship education programme, while the remainder is allocated to specific species reintroduction efforts, particularly focusing on glow-worms, which are experiencing a sharp decline across London due to habitat fragmentation, loss, and pesticide use [3]Pro. This project aims to record existing glow-worm species in London, restore their specialized habitats, and implement targeted reintroductions [3]Pro.
